Our partners, WNC Farm Link, were just featured in the latest edition of Plough to Pantry.

“According to the USDA, two-thirds of the nation’s farms will transfer hands in the next 20 years due to farmers retiring and aging out. The question is: To whose hands will they transfer? WNC Farm Link in Asheville is working to keep western North Carolina land available for local food production by matching aspiring farmers with landowners looking to keep their property in agriculture.“Many beginning farmers want to own their own land, but it may not be a realistic possibility,” says Suzanna Denison, land access coordinator for WNC Farm Link. “At a fraction of the cost of buying, leasing can offer new farmers the necessary working capital for their farm startup costs, rather than have these same funds be diverted to purchasing land….” Read the full article by Natasha Anderson HERE.
