Biochar for the Small Farm or Garden
Alex Gray
Biochar is a highly porous, carbon-rich material made from biomass through pyrolysis in a low-oxygen environment. It enhances soil health by improving water retention and nutrient availability and supporting microbial life while also acting as a method for carbon sequestration to mitigate climate change. Biochar can be tailored for specific soil needs and has numerous applications, such as in water filtration, composting, and livestock feed.
