Wild Hope Farm is a sustainable farm in Chester, SC, using organic practices and permaculture design to grow fresh produce, flowers, and pasture raised laying hens. We are currently growing on 5 acres of production and the property consists of greenhouses, walking trails, a 10-acre pond, and diversified natural areas. Our produce is sold through a 150 person farm share, to local chefs, and at pop-up markets. We host complementary on-farm events including retreats, weddings, farm-to-table dinners, and educational workshops to cultivate community and encourage people to learn about our farming practices.

We are seeking people with experience and passion who aspire to run their own farm some day. The apprentices are integral members of our small team at Wild Hope Farm. During the 9 month program we will expose you to all aspects of organic farming and deepen your knowledge of our organic farming methods, produce and operations, beekeeping, season extension, cover cropping, no-till methods, compost heat extraction, pasture raised chickens, soil quality, harvesting and packing, customer delivery, and selling. You will become familiar with our modern equipment and be trained on usage. We will assess your development and coach you towards operating independently over the time with us.

You can find our products at the Matthews Farmers Market, in local (SC) restaurants, and through our farm share.

About purchasing from Wild Hope Farm...

“Our mission at Matthews Community Farmers’ Market over the last 28 years has been to support the local agricultural economy. As the Charlotte metro area’s largest producer-only farmers’ market, we not only provide an outlet for local farmers to sell their produce, but also nurture the building of relationships between our customers and farmers. This is Wild Hope Farm's second season with us and we are excited that they have become one of our anchor vendors. We believe that they also share our mission to bring high quality produce to the local community. They are organized, passionate and knowledgeable and their desire to expand is also driven by their dedication to educate others about sustainable farming through their CSA program and numerous on-farm programs and events. We support Wild Hope Farm in their endeavors to pursue organic farming practices and look forward to working with them for future seasons as they increase their production.”

About working for Wild Hope Farm...

“My experience on the farm was excellent. I grew alongside the farm and the farmers in its second year of running. I appreciate the time they took to teach me all of the skills from running the tractor, working as a team, and selling at the farmers market. I had a lot of independence on the farm and was able to pursue my passions with support from my employers. I hope to be back at Wild Hope Farm some day whether it is working or enjoying their wellness retreats. Working and living on the farm takes a hard work ethic, but the lifestyle of eating fresh, and working in the dirt everyday is the biggest reward one could ask for.”

    - Molly Belk, former employee

“Wild Hope Farm offers an intensive learning experience for anyone looking to learn about organic best practices and minimal tillage farming with the use of cover crops and many innovative and efficient farming methods. They additionally can provide valuable business insight for starting a new farm and all of the investments of time and capital required.”

    - Sam Perkins, former apprentice

Our farm is not open to the public. If you’d like to learn about our on-farm events, visit our event page.
