OGS received a $7,500 from The Community Foundation of Western North Caroline in order to build capacity in 2015.
OGS has been educating commercial farmers, urban farmers, homesteaders, new land owners, and rural growers in all aspects of organic agriculture for more than 22 years. OGS serves adult growers of all races, ethnicities, and income levels in 16 WNC counties.
OGS has a long history in the Western NC region. That combined with a clear strategic direction, passionate constituency, and strong support in the community puts OGS in a strong position to make a difference. In 2014 OGS’s programming tripled and 2015 hold further expansion with the development of a region-wide Farmer Training Program and a home grower coaching and public awareness program entitled Get Growing.
OGS is on the verge of making a larger impact in the Western NC and appealed to CFWNC for support with brand and messaging differentiation and strengthening as well as the creation of a fundraising plan.
“We are honored to receive this important support and look forward to expanding our work,” says Lee Warren, the organizations Executive Director.
This one-year grant will help OGS continue their work to inspire, educate, and support people to farm, garden, and live organically.
Organic Growers School is a non-profit organization providing organic education since 1993. Our mission is to inspire, educate, and support people in our region to farm, garden, and live organically.
