Farmers learn best from other farmers, and aspiring farmers learn best from hearing how successful farmers in the region are running their farms. Farm Tours form the core of the WNC CRAFT training program. Tours occur 1-2 times monthly from April-October, sometimes on Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays. Tours provide an overview of the farming operation, as well as a focused look at a topic of that farmer’s choosing. Core checklist topics will always be covered, as the group has agreed these are areas of farm management that need particular attention.Topics include greenhouse management, irrigation, soils, production planning, livestock, etc. More specialized topics may also be included, such as forest products, biodynamic growing methods, or value-added.
