Organic Growers School presents the long-awaited Harvest Conference, a fall event featuring all the popularity of the Spring Conference with a focus on the fall growing season, harvesting, canning, growing, gardening, energy, cooking and more… all organically of course. We pride ourselves on bringing you down-to-earth advice on growing and sustainable living, while remaining affordable and accessible.
Our First Annual Harvest Conference consists of two days of workshops:
Friday, September 5th: Pre-Conference Workshops
Both half & full day workshops available covering topics such as mushroom hunting, wild edible plant foraging, fermented soda instruction, and place-based creative writing. Pre-Conference workshop held at Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa.
Saturday, September 6th: Conference Core
Enjoy twenty-four half-and-a-half classes in six tracks: fall & winter growing, home cooking, fermentation & preservation, self-reliance, homesteading skills, and wild ideas. Saturday classes held at AB Tech Main Campus in Asheville.

There are four time slots throughout the day. Session One is from 9:00am- 10:30 am. Session Two is 11:00am-12:30pm. Session Three is 2:00pm-3:30pm. Session Four is 4:00pm-5:30pm. Ultimately, you can pick up to four classes to attend in one day. You do not have to attend all your classes in a single track. You are free to switch around from track to track throughout the day.
We are excited to be welcoming Asheville restaurants to the event this year, and they will be selling yummy food made with local ingredients between 12:30 and 2:00 on Saturday. Check back to get more info about who will be serving lunch Be sure to bring some 5’s and 10’s to spend on lunch, as many vendors are unable to accept plastic.
Because we try to keep things both affordable and simple, we regret that we cannot offer partial registrations.
We do not have a kid’s program at the Harvest Conference. Registration for kids 11 & under is free; however we insist that you not leave your child unattended. We understand that kids can be unpredictable and may get bored easily, but please respect the other conference registrants and know that you are responsible for the behavior of your children. If your child becomes disruptive to other attendees, you may be asked to step out of class.
Yes! Registration is available this year by phone. Simply call (828) 564-1179 during regular business hours, and our staff will be happy to assist you!
Registration for pre-conference workshops must be processed in advance. You can register for Saturday classes on-site, but it is more expensive. Save money by planning ahead! Online registration will stay open until the week of September 1st.
