Women in Agriculture Gathering
Join us – all women who eat, farm, garden, or are interested in organics, sustainability, and agriculture.
When: Saturday, April 29 at 5 PM – 8 PM
Where: Dr. John Wilson Community Garden, 99 White Pine Drive, Black Mountain, North Carolina 28711
Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/592603597597820/
* Bring: A potluck dish to share, BYOB, CHAIRS or BLANKETS to sit on, your own plate, utensils and drinking vessel. Please dress for the weather. Women interested in and involved with food and farming will come together for our quarterly gathering. We’ll share a potluck meal, friendship and a great opportunity to network and learn from each other. The theme of “crop mobbing” has emerged for this gathering: what do you need, how can you give, what would you like to know?
To that end, Sera Deva, local farmer and OGS staff member, will share her experiences of hosting crop mobs. The concept of crop mobbing has also made its way into the AB Community Garden Network, wherein members rotate their meetings among network gardens, offering assistance on the ground while there. There is also an Asheville Crop Mob Google Group that has been inactive for awhile, but that could be resurrected if we find that useful. All good stuff!
A final note: We love the enthusiasm that was brought with the last gathering, and are happy to help organize this one, but encourage others to step up if you wish these gatherings to remain frequent. If you’d like to host and organize the next one, please let us know or come and announce your intention!
