What is the Conference and where will it be held?

Organic Growers School presents the much-requested Harvest Conference, a fall event featuring all the popularity of the Spring Conference with a focus on the fall growing season, harvesting, canning, growing, gardening, energy, cooking and more… all organically of course. We pride ourselves on bringing you down-to-earth advice on growing and sustainable living, while remaining affordable and accessible.

The 4th Annual Harvest Conference will be held at Warren Wilson College on Saturday, September 9, 2017.  The Pre-Conference workshops are on Friday September 8th.  Two of those are at Warren Wilson College and one is at the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden in Black Mountain. If you are registered for one of these workshops, you will receive a separate notice detailing instructions for that session. The information here is for Saturday only. Please note that Friday Pre-Conference Workshops are only available at an additional cost. You can still register on our website.

When are classes offered on Saturday?

There are three time slots throughout the day. Session One is from 9:00am-12:30pm. Session Two is 2-3:30pm. Session Three is 4-5:30pm. Ultimately, you can pick up to three classes to attend in one day. You do not have to attend all your classes in a single track. You are free to switch around from track to track throughout the day.

What about lunch?

Warren Wilson College has dining facilities that will be available to workshop participants for lunch. You are also welcome to bring your own lunch or dine off campus at a local restaurant.

The cafeteria on the main floor of Gladfelter Student Center offers a wide selection of vegetarian and meat entrees, fresh made salads and dressings, homemade soups and desserts. Gluten and dairy-free options are labeled and available. The Cowpie Café, located on the lower level, offers vegan and vegetarian options. Produce and meat from the college garden and farm are served in both locations.

  • Cafeteria Hours: 11:15am-1:00pm; the dining facilities are busiest at noon.
  • Price: $8.97 at both locations.
  • You are also welcome to bring your own lunch.

Can I register for just a class or two, and not the whole day?

Because we try to keep things both affordable and simple, we regret that we cannot offer partial registrations.

What is your policy on kids?

We do not have a kid’s program at the Harvest Conference. Registration for kids 11 & under is free; however we insist that you not leave your child unattended. We understand that kids can be unpredictable and may get bored easily, but please respect the other conference registrants and know that you are responsible for the behavior of your children. If your child becomes disruptive to other attendees, you may be asked to step out of class.

I have a hard time registering online. Can I register by phone?

Yes! Registration is available this year by phone. Simply call (828) 214-7833 during regular business hours, and our staff will be happy to assist you!

Can I register at the event?

Registration for pre-conference workshops must be processed in advance. You can register for Saturday classes on-site.

Something’s come up. Can I get a refund?

Registration for the OGS Harvest Conference is non-refundable. The event will be held rain, snow, or shine.
