An In-depth Study with The Barefoot Farmer

with Special Guest, Jeff Poppen
Friday, March 11, 2016, UNC Asheville
$60 with weekend registration, $75 without

Join the Barefoot Farmer for a full day of inspiration as we look deeper into the knowledge of how people grew plants and animals before the advent of industrial agriculture. Nature knows best, and we can mimic her on our farms and in our gardens. This introductory workshop will take the foundational material and show how to grow a garden and tend farmland profitably, easily and sustainably, without extensive off-farm inputs.

This workshop will first give a general overview of the basic building block elements of plants and how the biodynamic method ensures healthy plant growth through microbial interaction with the whole farm organism. Biodynamic principles that will focused on include:  remineralization; legumes and cover crops; livestock and composting; and proper loosening of the soil.

Jeff Poppen, also known as The Barefoot Farmer, is coming to Asheville for two whole weekends in 2016!  He will be delivering intensive biodynamic farm education that is accessible and practical to anyone who is interested.

March 11th, 2016 at the Spring Conference. Register here.
And July 9th & 10th at Living Web Farms:
In this two-day workshop event, Jeff Poppen will delve more deeply into biodynamic practice, while still keeping the principles accessible to any farmer. He will share his 30+ years of experience making and using biodynamic preparations; how simple it is, and how he uses the concepts from Steiner’s Agricultural course on his farm. He will read from Steiner’s work, and talk about how to study it, it’s historical aspect, and the practices he implements on farm to help understand it. On the second day, Poppen will be joined by local biodynamic growers Amy Hamilton and Craig Siska, for deeper exchange and perspective between seasoned practitioners and students of biodynamics. REGISTER FOR LIVING WEB FARMS WORKSHOP
