Pre-Conference Logistics & Details

Hello and thank you so much for joining us at the 24th Annual Spring Conference. If you’re looking for logistics and details for the weekend event, please click here. Below are the details for the Pre-Conference Workshops happening on March 10, 2017.  

Registration for Friday, pre-conference events ends Wednesday, 3/8/17 at midnight. There is NOT day-of, on-site, or walk-in registration. There IS walk-in, on-site, and day-of registration for Saturday & Sunday at UNC-Asheville.

Gabe Brown's Treating the Farm as an Ecosystem Workshop DETAILS

Title: Treating the Farm as an Ecosystem with Special Guest, Gabe Brown

Date & Time: Friday, March 10, 2017, 9:30 to 4:30

Location: At Living Web Farm, 220 Grandview Lane Hendersonville NC 28791. If you get lost, call The Farm at 828-582-5039 or 828-279-7403

Parking: Please park at the French Broad Baptist Church 182 Grandview Lane Hendersonville NC 28791. Please park at the French Broad Baptist Church and then walk across the street to 220 Grandview Lane. The event is NOT at the church. Please do not park in the area near the church’s playground as it is used for school buses at pick up time in the afternoon. We will have parking attendants on site to help you.

Lunch: Living Web Farms will provide a light lunch for attendees. Please bring snacks, water, coffee or other food/water needs you will have during the day. 

Weather considerations: We are hoping for a great day but you should plan to bring clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

What to bring: Please plan to bring a notebook to take notes and an insulated mug for coffee or tea, as cups for hot beverages will not be provided.

Pat Foreman's Chickens & You Workshop Details

Title: Chickens & You: From Egg to Table with Pat Foreman

Date & Time: Friday, March 10, 2016, 9:30 to 4:30 

Host location: Franny’s Farm – 22 Franny’s Farm Rd, Leicester NC 28748. Put this address in your GPS or Mapquest.

Directions: Take Patton Avenue to Leicester Hwy. Proceed 10 miles out Leicester Hwy (the first 5 miles are 4-lane and the last 5 miles are 2-lane). Turn LEFT on SOUTH TURKEY CREEK. Drive exactly 1-mile and turn RIGHT on FRANNY’s FARM RD. Stay left at each fork until you see the pastures on the left and 2-story brown barn. If you get lost, call 828-708-5587.

Parking: Please follow the parking signs directing you into the pasture by the “LOVE” Barn. There are signs and an attendant to direct you.
Lunch: Please plan to bring your own lunch. The closest restaurants/fast food are a good 10 minute drive. Please bring your water bottle, coffee and snacks as needed.
Bio-security: If you are attending this workshop and own or are around chickens, we ask that you wear clean clothes that you have NOT worn out to your chicken coop. And most importantly, please wear a pair of shoes that you have NEVER worn out in your chicken coop area. Thank you for your cooperation. This will be important for the protection of all of the flocks.

Weather considerations: We are hoping for a great day but you should plan to bring clothing that is appropriate for the day. We will be in a very nice, heated facility for part of the day but will also be outside for a portion as we tour the chickens on site, so please plan accordingly.

Lunch: Plan to brown bag it. There are limited nearby options. We will have some snacks and coffee/tea available but be sure to bring what nourishment you need for a full day of learning.

Weather considerations: The workshop will be indoors.
